Celebrating Disability Pride Month at Camp Allen NH
Every July, we join the nationwide celebration of Disability Pride Month - a time to honor the history, achievements, experiences and identity of people with disabilities.
For over 90 years, Camp Allen New Hampshire has been a place where individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities are welcomed and celebrated. Our campers shine in an environment designed just for them. We’re a place where abilities are embraced, independence is encouraged and friendships blossom summer after summer.
Disability Pride Month invites us all to rethink the narratives society often places on people with disabilities. It’s not about “overcoming” a disability. It’s about owning who you are, taking pride in your identity and knowing that you belong.
Pride at Camp Allen NH:
A camper learning or enhancing a new life skill
High-fives and cheers echoing after a talent show performance
Quiet moments in the sensory room where everyone feels safe and seen
New friendships that last far beyond the summer
Staff and volunteers who show up every day to create joy and memories that matter
This month and every month, we’re proud to be part of a movement that celebrates differences, lifts voices and creates space where everyone can just be themselves.
